On the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland, 2025

Chris Ross on the East Coast Trail

Welcome! I'm a researcher based in Montreal, born and raised in Calgary. I completed high school at Li Po Chun United World College in Hong Kong, then did a BA in political science at McGill in Montreal.

After undergrad I spent two years working in Ottawa and Calgary, including a year in Ottawa as a federal funding analyst on Stantec's Indigenous Relations team. I returned to McGill for an MA focused on quantitative methodology, with a thesis on climate policy support during the 2021 federal election.

In the summer of 2023 I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, where I was truly able to touch grass. I'm now a Senior Analyst at the Media Ecosystem Observatory, where I specialize in survey research and closely follow the online conversation in Canada about politics and media. I genuinely love Canadian politics, messiness and all, and I feel lucky to get to study it for a living.

Thanks for reading — please reach out if you'd like to chat about research, hiking, or anything in between.
